Ringwood U3A - Members' Only Page

The Members Noticeboard is a new section on our website which will give members the opportunity to publicise non-U3A events that they have a keen interest in or to invite others to join them for something particular like a cinema trip or garden visit etc. It will not be used for 'selling' items or promoting services. If you would like something posted to the Noticeboard please email full details to Hazel via the contacts page. Inclusion will at the discretion of the Committee.

The charity, SafeWise, who gave a talk to the club in February, are running 'Dorset Driver Gold'' courses to help people aged 65+ drive safely for longer by enhancing their driving skills and confidence. The 3 hour theory session costs £10 with breaks and refreshments included. Practical sessions cost £45 and last up to 90 minutes. Following receipt of booking form and payment you will be given details to arrange your drive directly with an approved driving instructor. "Healthy Walks", lasting approximately 1 hour, often attended by several club members, take place on alternate Wednesdays commencing at 10.30am from the Tern Hide Car Park, Blashford Lakes. Bring binoculars if you have them to check out the bird life from the various hides. The next walk will be on the 24th April. Posted by Hazel Taylor

Hampshire and IoW Wildlife Trust are running 'Natural Wellbeing' event at Blashford Lakes every Friday from 11am until 2.30pm to promote adult health and wellbeing. Ringwood Twinning Association group will be visiting our Twin town of Pont-Audemer from 10th May for a 4 day / 3 night visit by car at a cost of approx one hundred pounds per person. They need 20 people to do the trip but are a few short so have opened up an invitation to us to join them. There would also be a return visit for them to come to Ringwood in 2019 for which they would like hosts. Leukaemia Busters are planning a series of fundraising walks in and around the Purbeck countryside and coastline on 30th June. Walks are 2.5, 7, 12, 19 and 26 mile routes. The 3 shorter routes include a ride on the Swanage Steam Railway. Walks are based from Harmans Cross Village Hall, adjacent to the railway station. Free parking and refreshments. Tool Aid Ringwood is a charity formed to collect and refurbish usable tools, sewing machines, computers, bicycles and other items which are then sent to developing countries to enable people to escape poverty. Wessex Cancer Trust are holding their 2nd annual 'Walk for Hope' on Sunday 10th June in Burley in an effort to raise funds for local families affected by cancer through sponsorship of walkers taking on the challenge of a 10 or 20 mile route. They are in need of VOLUNTEERS to support the event on the day. There are many positions available (route marshall, pit stop volunteer, tail walker/sweeper, registration helper and medals/refreshments helper), with shifts starting earlier or later in the day.
